Wedding plans

Wedding plans progressing very well. Church, reception, dress, car, invitations, flowers, hairdresser, make-up artist....all organised. Still need to organise the music for the church but the DJ for the reception is organised. Wedding cake appointment in a couple of weeks. All going swimmingly

What else is new.....went to the optometrist today, need to get glasses. I have astigmatism in both eyes, but otherwise all healthy. Picking out the frames Thursday night (couldn’t do it on my own, need a second opinion) Hopefully I’ll only need them for computer and paperwork. Getting bad when you can’t see the bus numbers until the bus is only a few meters away. I have been getting throbbing headaches during the night, maybe 3 or 4 times a week. At least the optometrist was able to rule out a tumor or glaucoma.

Honeymoon...we have the tickets for our flights. Very excited. So far the plan is Brisbane to New York, stay for 3 days. NY to London, stay for 3 days then pick up a car to travel around England for 10 days. Fly from Stansted airport to Malta. Staying in Malta for 4-5 days. Catching a ferry to Sicily, staying for 1-2 days then moving onto Italy. Italy definites so far are Sorrento/Amalfi Coast/Pompeii/Positano, Rome, Assisi, Florence, Siena, Venice. Not sure how long but from there the only definite is Paris for 2 days before I and Milf fly home. All this in 6½ weeks. We are going to be so tired when we get home. We get back on a Saturday morning and start work again on Tuesday. Might try to get the Tuesday off as well. Hopefully I won’t be affected too badly by jetlag or it could ruin everything.

The funeral

The funeral was very sad. The church was absolutely packed. There was standing room only by the time we got there. Took us 10 minutes to find a carpark as the streets were lined with cars. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church. We didn’t go to the burial but went to the wake. It was a beautiful service. Two of his children got up to speak - very touching.

I had my flu vacination on Wednesday. Was very sick that night. Felt like I had the flu - very stiff and sore - totally felt yuk! Feeling better now. My arm is still sore and very red where the injection went in. We got a goodies bag for getting the flu vac. It had ovaltines, m&m’s, nutella, tea bags, nice smelling tissues, a pen and jila mints. I think some people only went for the goodies

Work has been extremely busy this week - major deadline to meet by COB Friday. I have been working long hours (for me) and feeling a bit stressed. Can’t wait for the weekend.

We have our first meeting with the church about our wedding on Saturday. Not really sure what it is for, I suppose to find out what happens, procedures, etc. Milf needs to go to a marriage preparation course down the track. Just under 7 months to go now. Everything seems to be running smoothly so far

Our wedding

Our wedding is going to be fairly small - approx 80 people. Church wedding followed by a cocktail party. Should be nice and intimate. Bought my dress - totally not what I pictured myself buying. It’s so pretty and traditional/romantic. I was going to go for a straight dress but went for the full skirted one. We’re having trial photography in the next couple of weeks to get a feel of being behind the camera. Also having trial make-up done on the same day to make sure it will look good in the photos.

Starting to think about invitations. Want to do them myself. Playing around with a black & white photo my bridesmaid took of a bunch flowers. I want to do something different, and since I love photography, I thought I’d try to use that.

We’ve booked our flights for our honeymoon. We fly from Brisbane (6 Oct) to New York for 3 nights. Then off to London for 3 days. From there we have a car booked to drive around England and maybe Wales for 2 weeks. Then we fly from London to Malta for 4 days. Catch a ferry to Sicily, then onto Italy. Milf has just over 3 weeks from when we get to Italy, to get ourselves to Paris so we can fly out 18 Nov. Haven’t decided on our Europe destinations as yet. So many beautiful/wonderful places to see and can’t decide.

It is extremely hot in Brisbane at the moment. It’s 11.44 pm and still around 28°c. The weekend weather is supposed to be around 41°c. The heat itself isn’t a problem, the humidity is so high - it is just stifling and muggy. Lots of warnings on the news to be careful over the next few days.

I've finally found

Well I’ve finally found out that I won’t be going to work in Canberra, but I am going to work in the city for 7 weeks. I’ll be doing system testing of a new program. Love testing. The work can be stressful if the system isn’t working properly, but it’s something different and it means no customers for 7 whole weeks. Yay !! Only one day left of work, and not even a whole day, I have a flex in the afternoon so I’m only working till 3.

We decided to have a bbq at work today, since it’s my last week and all. Milf did all the shopping - got the snags, salad and ice-cream. Went to start the barbie to find out we don’t have any gas. Seems the last person to use it left it on & it leaked. Luckily we have a stove in our kitchen at work and I had to cook all the sausages under the grill. Oh well, at least it was warmer inside.

Bf & I have been going out for 3 years on 2/8. We are staying at a hotel tomorrow night to celebrate, plus going out to a very expensive restaurant. It was the first ‘real’ restaurant that we went to when we first started going out. Also going to the ballet on Saturday afternoon to see The Little Mermaid. Should be wonderful.

Played games

Played games on my new phone most of the day. Addicted to Snake II. My high score is 851, which is 100 more than my boyfriend’s. He complains that his fingers are fatter than mine so I have an advantage.

Finished reading the new Harry Potter book last Monday night. Needless to say I enjoyed it! Milf and I bought the book at the same time and amazingly finished on the same night. Totally by coincidence. Won’t say anymore though, wouldn’t want to spoil it for anyone. Larina gives a good summary on her blog if you want to know more.

Work is still up in the air. Still haven’t got a start date for working in town and haven’t heard if I’ll be working in Canberra during August. It’s only 3 weeks away, they’re cutting things fine for everyone to get accommodation booked. I’ll probably drive to Canberra, it’s a 15 hour drive but it would be nice to have my car down there. Then I can visit Stacey in Sydney and my Mum on the coast.

It’s raining again. Started pouring yesterday before I left work and has drizzled today. Considering it’s winter, we haven’t had it too bad in Brisbane. Probably only the third time it’s rained so far. I hate having to walk to my car from work in the rain. I always seem to be wearing a skirt and get very wet feet. Also don’t like driving in the rain, the windscreen always seems to fog up so Milf has to turn the air-con on, and then I freeze. And other people drive way too fast and freak me out!

Jassy has been the biggest slob today. He’s spent most of the day couching. No wonder he’s such a lard arse at the moment. He was quite funny last night. When I got home from work he decided it would be fun to run in and out the house. We have wooden floors so when he runs through the house with wet feet he slips and slides all over the place. Then he wanted to play hide and seek. (Yes this is my cat I’m talking about) He’s very clever, knows all the good hiding spots and when to jump out at me to make me scream.

Many exciting things

Many exciting things have happened today. We finally have curtains in our house. It’s only taken us just a little over a year. Looks great but we’ll have to get used to them. Very strange walking into the lounge room now - curtains give the room a whole different feel.

I have a new hair cut and colour. My hair was getting way too long so I decided it was time for a shorter style. Sitting above my shoulders now in a bob style. I’ve also gone a little blonder - hate how my hair looks brownish in winter. Very happy with it.

Saw X2 tonight. I have been waiting ages for it to come to the cinemas. Loved X-Men and have seen it way too many times. Hugh Jackman rocks !! Saw a couple of previews Milf would also like to see. Phone Booth - kind of like Speed without the bus. The Hulk - love superhero movies, a must see (also has Eric Bana). Matrix Reloaded - looks amazing. Have to see Matrix again though - can’t remember the whole story line - I’ve only seen it once and I’m pretty sure I missed the whole ending of it.

My monitor has been playing up for weeks now, finally put it in to get repaired. A friend of bf’s is doing it. Possibly getting a new monitor if it will cost too much to fix the old one. It’s only a 15" & friend thinks he can pick up a brand new 17" for $230. Liking the sound of that. I’ve borrowed bf parent’s monitor until mine (or my new one) is ready. I thought 15" was small, this one is even smaller. And the colours are heaps darker. Green looks brownish. Shouldn’t complain

This or that

1. TV or radio?
2. On the radio: talk or music station?
3. Actual books or books-on-tape (or e-books)?
4. Actual newspaper, or web version?
5. Wall Street Journal or National Enquirer? I don’t read either.
6. TV news...news channel such as CNN, or your local broadcast news?
7. A movie you’ve been looking forward to seeing gets bad reviews all around. See it anyway, or pass? I’d probably pass and wait for it to be on DVD.
8. See movies when they first come out, or wait a few weeks for the lines at the theater to get shorter? If Milf really wants to see it, then straight away
9. TV: cable, satellite dish, or just plain old antenna? Cable
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: If you had to choose only one form of media to come into your home, which would you choose...print (newspapers, magazines) or electronic (TV, internet)? Why? Gawd, this is very hard. I love to read but I also love spending time on the computer and have a couple of TV shows I have to watch. Guess electronic would probably be my pick.
